The biggest problem is the Canon Digital Rebel is the year of construction, a pop-up flash. Product pop-up flash in low light and underexpose many many situations - and often not high enough to steady the camera to avoid red eyes, the sun or body telephoto lens hood. I bought the 420EX to improve these situations.
